Oren Weisfeld is an author and freelance journalist based in Toronto. He covers technology, basketball, and the intersection of sports and politics for The Guardian, Toronto Star, Globe and Mail, VICE, SLAM, CBC, Complex, Sportsnet, Yahoo! and more.

His debut book, “The Golden Generation: How Canada Became a Basketball Powerhouse (ECW Press, 2025)” is on sale now.

Oren has freelanced for almost a decade and has a track record of writing stories sports fans care about through meticulously curated access. He has written profiles about NBA players Scottie Barnes and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Olympians Race Imboden and Justyn Knight, Toronto Blue Jay Alek Manoah, and several Canadian basketball players. He has covered the Olympics, a World Series, the NBA Finals, and a FIBA World Cup.

Oren regularly appears on Canadian TV, radio, and podcasts and has previously hosted three sports podcasts: “The Rap Up” postgame Youtube show; “The Sports Politics Show” on TMU Met Radio; and “Mustang Nation” on CHRW Radio Western.
