Oren Weisfeld is an author and freelance sports journalist from Toronto. He covers basketball and the intersection of sports, politics, and business for The Guardian, Toronto Star, VICE, SLAM, CBC, TVO, Complex, Sportsnet, Yahoo! and more. He also writes a regular opinion column about Canadian sports for the Globe and Mail.

His debut book, The Golden Generation: How Canada Became a Basketball Powerhouse (ECW Press, 2025), traces the history of men’s basketball in Canada. It has been widely reviewed and has a 4.5 rating on Goodreads.

Oren has a track record of writing stories that go beyond the field of play and appeal to a wide range of Canadians.
